Sir Sidney Cornwallis Peel, 1st Baronet DSO (1870 – 1938), was a British soldier, financier and Conservative politician. He was also a Colonel in the British Army. Serving in the 40th Oxfordshire Company.
The Queen's Own Oxfordshire Hussars, renamed several times before becoming the QOOH, it saw service in the Boer War with 40 and 59 Companies of the Imperial Yeomanry and also served in Belgium and France during the Great War. In 1922, the regiment became part of the Royal Artillery.
Bindings tight and square. Text clean, light even toning. Moderate handling wear. Light foxing throughout, heavy on preliminaries. Subscription library bookplate on front paste-down. Previous owner’s name dated 1901 on free endpage.
