The author supports the theory that the occupant of the castle at Einhausen, near Hildburghausen, calling himself Vavel de Versay, was Leonardus Cornelius van der Valck, and that his companion was Marie Thérèse Charlotte, daughter of Louis XVI. Bound in orange cloth with printed paper label to spine. Book shows light shelfwear. Binding is firm. Interior is clean and without markings. Work is illustrated with frontispiece portrait of Charlotte, Duchess of Hildburghausen, b/w and color plates. Volume is preserved in intact illustrated dust jacket, with small tears to front and rear cover. Closed tear, with taping to verso, appears in bottom right corner of front panel.
