William Henry Hudson was an author, naturalist, and ornithologist. Hudson's best known novel is Green Mansions first published in 1904.

Green Mansions: A Romance of the Tropical Forest is an exotic romance of a traveler to the Guyana jungle of southeastern Venezuela and his encounter with a forest dwelling girl named Rima.

In 1959, the book was adapted into a movie, also entitled Green Mansions, starring Audrey Hepburn as Rima, with Anthony Perkins as Abel. The film, which was directed by Hepburn's husband, Mel Ferrer
