The most catastrophic war in the history of the human race loomed less than two years away. Paris, France, Europe, and all nations of the earth seemed poised in the eye of a hurricane, between the winds of World War I and World War II.

The Exposition Internationale would be the final European enactment of the ritual of Peace and Progress before the deluge.
