One of Ernest Hemingway's Favorite Hangouts

Bar La Florida would gain worldwide recognition in the 1920s, after the so called "Cocktail King of Cuba" - Constante Ribalaigua Vert - had inherited it in 1918 from its original owner Don Narcisco Sala Parera. Starting in 1934, Vert published and gave away as souvenirs recipe booklets of his La Florida cocktails, history, and anecdotes.
By 1939, the bar would be renamed El Floridita and although the booklet for that year had already been printed, Vert also decided to publish the current edition, which for the first time included not only the content mentioned above, but also nine new drinks - Mauro Special, Ing Armando J Valdes Special, Carmen Morell Special, Pepe Blanco Special, Josefina Prieto Special, Natividad, Ginebra Compuesta, Mr Solar Special, and Jai-Alai.
