Very good hardcover in good dust jacket with price of $2.50. The bindings are tight and square. Text clean, light even toning. Moderate shelf handling wear.  Darkening in the joint of the spine; the dust jacket has mild age toning on the white of the rear panel. First Edition, First Printing with Scribner’s “A” and seal with no mention of the Pulitzer Prize.

The Yearling, about a boy who adopts an orphaned fawn, won a Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1939  and was later made into a movie of the same name. The book was written long before the concept of young-adult fiction, but is now commonly included in teen-reading lists.
