Half crushed morocco and marbled boards, five raised bands with compartments decorated in gilt, patterned endpapers, top edge gilt. Illustrated profusely by Paul Avril (1843-1904) with his designs and decorative borders in a variety of colors to every leaf. 10.5 inches tall; the textblock measures 10.25 by 6.75 inches; [6] [a] 3-138 [2] pages.

The bindings are tight and square. Text is clean; light, even age-toning. Moderate shelf handling wear with the spine lightly toned, corners slightly bumped, endpapers toned on the edges from the leather turn-ins, some illustrations have offsetting.

A study from ancient times into the nineteenth century, Uzanne's work of the Sun Shade, Glove, and he Muff, was part of his wider series of 'books of the boudoir' which was intended to provide a comprehensive history of feminine adornment.
