Rosita Forbes was an English travel writer and explorer. In 1920-21 she was the first European woman to visit the Kufra Oasis in Libya (together with the Egyptian explorer Ahmed Hassanein), in a period when this was closed to westerners.
In this narrative she describes adventures in the Middle East, Abyssinia, New Guinea and the far corners of the world.
Three chapters are devoted to her attempt to enter Mecca on a pilgrimage disguised as a Turkish Pilgrim.
