An appealing picture of early colonial life. Turtles are being prepared for eating in a large pot; game is being brought into the camp; domestic goats and chickens are visible in the yards before the huts in the St. Vincent vista.
A second style of building and a rather nice observation of the mountains in the distance as 8 portraits of people are observed in the vicinity of the huts demonstrating daily life in the picture of St. Anthony. Though not stated St. Anthony may be on the island of Montserrat.
Very Good. Item #012412
The plate is from a collection of voyages and travels, some now first printed from original manuscripts, others now first published in English. To which is prefixed, an introductory discourse (supposed to be written by the celebrated Mr. Locke) intitled, The whole history of navigation from its original to this time. Illustrated with maps and cuts, curiously engraved.
