Captioned Tissue-guarded color plates and illustration of ornamentation on each page. The illustrations and decorations are by Arthur I Keller.
The bindings are tight and square. Text clean, light even toning. Moderate shelf handling wear. A hint of darkening from the glue under the front paste-on.

Francis Bret Harte was an American short story writer and poet, best remembered for his short fiction featuring miners, gamblers, and other romantic figures of the California Gold Rush.
