Published in 1920, R.U.R. brought global acclaim to its author and introduced the term 'Robot' to popular lexicon. The first use of a robot in literature is often attributed to the Czech writer Karel Capek's 1920 play 'R.U.R.' (Rossum's Universal Robots).

In this play, Capek introduced the term "robot" to the world, derived from the Czech word "robota," which means forced labor or drudgery.
