Mark Van Doren (1894-1972) was an American poet, writer and critic. He was a scholar and a professor of English at Columbia University for nearly 40 years, where he inspired a generation of influential writers and thinkers including Thomas Merton, Robert Lax, John Berryman, Whittaker Chambers, and Beat Generation writers such as Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac.
Full color lithographed binding matching the jacket without titling. 8.5 inches tall; x, [xi-xii] 1-131 pages; The bindings are tight and square. Text clean, light even age-toning. Moderate shelf handling wear. The dust jacket with the price of $2.75 has age dulled with a slightly darkened spine.
