A Hasty Bunch: Short Stories

Carbondale and Edwardsville: Southern Illinois University Press, 1977. First Printing, Thus [Reprint Edition].

A Fine Hardcover in a Fine Dust Jacket. A New Giftable Book. Unread.

This collection of stories was originally privately published in France in 1922 by McAlmon through his Contact Press, and this edition is the first time these 24 stories have been publicly available since.

Though McAlmon is best remembered for publishing Ernest Hemingway's first book and accompanying him to bullfights in Spain, he was also a significant writer and a central figure in the literary scene of 1920s Paris.

Surrounded by a circle of influential friends, McAlmon’s Contact Press played a crucial role in publishing key writers of the period, including James Joyce and Ezra Pound. Immersed in expatriate life, he provided support to many struggling artists and writers during that tumultuous era. [adapted from reviews]
