Kitty Wells Country Kitchen Cookbook [Signed -Family Triple-signature]

Madison Tenn, Kitty's Cook Book Co., 1964. First printing of Kitty Wells’ Country Kitchen Cook Book, Vol. 1 (Madison, TN: Kitty’s Cook Book Co., 1964).

A charming tour-merch cookbook compiled at the height of Wells’s fame, mixing down-home recipes (Texas Hash, Shrimp Creole, Cranberry Cobbler, Ozark Pudding) with a short “Life Story,” single/album discography, and photo pages.

This copy is signed three times on the contents page: “Kitty Wells,” “Johnny Wright” (Wells’s husband and long-time singing partner from the duo Johnnie & Jack), and “Ruby Wright” (their daughter, a country singer who performed in the trio Nita, Rita & Ruby). For collectors, the family triple-signature elevates an already scarce, self-published title.

Stapled quarto in pictorial wrappers (pink gingham motif), “Vol. 1” at upper front; 32 pp. Approx. 11 x 8.5 in. Clean, bright interiors; light handling to wraps; contents page bears the three autographs in ink. Index at rear.

Kitty Wells—celebrated as the ‘Queen of Country Music’—broke barriers in 1952 with ‘It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels’, the first No. 1 country hit by a woman and a watershed for women in the genre (Britannica notes her title and pioneering status). Johnnie/Johnny Wright is her spouse and musical partner, and Ruby Wright their singer-daughter.

Subjects: Kitty Wells; Johnny (Johnnie) Wright; Ruby Wright; Country & Southern cooking; Tour merchandise; Women in country music; 1960s music history; Nashville; Discography; Celebrity cookbook; Country music ephemera; Americana; Signed book.
