New York: Ace Science Fiction, 1962–1984.
FROM A SMALL FURRED CREATURE CAME ONE OF THE GREAT MORAL QUESTIONS IN MODERN SCIENCE FICTION.
A complete set of the classic Fuzzy trilogy, bringing together H. Beam Piper's beloved science-fiction novel Little Fuzzy with the two authorized continuations that expanded and completed the saga.

Each volume is signed by renowned cover artist Michael Whelan, whose artwork helped define the visual identity of modern science fiction during the late twentieth century.

Set on the resource-rich planet Zarathustra, the series follows prospector Jack Holloway's discovery of the small, furred creatures known as Fuzzies. What begins as an adventure story quickly evolves into a profound examination of intelligence, legal rights, corporate power, and the ethical responsibilities of human civilization when confronted with another sentient species.

HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE —
First published in 1962, Little Fuzzy became one of the foundational works of anthropological science fiction. Piper's central question—how humanity determines whether another species possesses legal and moral rights—anticipated themes that would become increasingly important in later science fiction. The novel's influence can be seen in countless first-contact and sentience debates that followed.

Following Piper's death in 1964, interest in the series remained strong. William Tuning's Fuzzy Bones extended the story for a new generation of readers, while Fuzzies and Other People drew upon Piper's rediscovered manuscript material to complete the narrative according to the author's original intentions.

ABOUT THE ARTIST —
Michael Whelan (b. 1950) is among the most celebrated illustrators in science fiction and fantasy publishing. Winner of fifteen Hugo Awards, three World Fantasy Awards, and numerous Locus Awards, Whelan transformed the visual landscape of speculative fiction through his luminous, painterly approach. His cover work for the Fuzzy novels helped introduce Piper's classic series to a new generation of readers during the science-fiction paperback renaissance of the 1980s.
