This is the true first American book edition, preceded only by the magazine serialization. This deluxe large-paper issue was strictly limited to 600 numbered copies (this being No. 107) and printed on heavy handmade wove paper. 

This edition is particularly significant as it was the first to include the author's illustrations, which were omitted from the British 'triple-decker' edition.
