Illustrated with 139 halftone photographs on 34 plates, 9 maps, including 4 folding maps, with 2 large folding maps present in the rear pocket. An early printing (December 1927).

Condition: Very Good. The bindings are tight and square. Text is clean with light, even age-toning. Heavy foxing affects the preliminary leaves with scattered foxing throughout. Moderate shelf wear, including a noticeable loss at the upper rear corner of the back board. All plates and folding maps, including the two maps in the rear pocket, are present. A solid Good copy of this classic Arctic narrative with the author's inscription.
