Margaret Armstrong (1867-1944)

Margaret  Armstrong  was among a number of important woman Decorative Designers, beginning her work in the late 1880s. Primarily worked for Scribner’s, for whom she designed half of her total output of about 270 books. She relied upon motifs gathered from nature (vines, plants, flowers) and rendered in boldly colored inks with contrasting book cloths.
