Rutledge authored 50+ books and hundreds of magazine pieces (notably in ‘Field & Stream’ and ‘Outdoor Life’), narrating Lowcountry woods, bird dogs, and plantation life; he served as South Carolina’s poet laureate from 1934 to 1973. This book is ideal for the quail and grouse enthusiast.

Jim Casada, historian and Sporting Classics columnist, has compiled multiple Rutledge anthologies and contributed a bibliographical essay to later editions.
