HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE --
Alexander Monro 'Secundus' (1733–1817) occupied the Chair of Anatomy at the University of Edinburgh for forty years. These treatises represent the apex of 18th-century medical illustration and clinical observation, bridging the gap between early anatomical sketches and modern surgical science.
